LMC’s Finance Internship is a 10-week program over the summer of 2021 designed to provide an opportunity for the intern to learn about the LMC business, people, culture and industry. The Finance Intern will assist the LMC Finance Department in the analysis of our Lumber Dealer member’s annual financial statements and preparation of necessary reports while providing assistance to the Finance and Accounting Departments in making credit decisions. The Intern will also be assigned project-based work. The internship experience is also enriched with opportunities to learn more about LMC’s overall business strategy and industry through a series of special projects, education sessions with our leadership team and customer and vendor meetings.
Key Job Tasks Include:
- Learn and utilize essential programs specific to conducting business within LMC
- Assist and contribute in various areas of the Division under the direction of the Manager-Credit & Receivables and as needed by the Senior Vice-President of Finance & Technology and Manager-Rebate Accounting
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the financial reporting of corporations and a more in depth understanding of accounting operations at LMC
- Conduct full analysis of stockholder member’s financial statements to evaluate for creditworthiness based on the LMC Credit Formula and Credit Policy which analyzes key measurements and benchmark statistics
- Work with the Manager-Credit & Receivables in preparing in-depth written reports outlining various aspects for the analysis to be presented to the LMC Finance Committee
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program majoring in Finance or Accounting
- Proficient in: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Should have a basic understanding of financial statements such as: Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows as well as a general understanding of basic financial ratios such as: Current Ratio and Debt-to-Net Worth.
