LMC’s Purchasing Internship is a 10-week program designed to provide an opportunity for the intern to learn about the LMC business, people, culture and industry. The goal for this internship is to provide the necessary training for the intern to be performing the job responsibilities of a Trader/Buyer by the completion of the program. The internship experience is also enriched with opportunities to learn more about LMC’s overall business strategy and industry through a series of special projects, education sessions with our leadership team and customer and vendor meetings.

 

Key Job Tasks Include:

  • Learn essential programs specific to conducting business within LMC.
  • Develop a summary understanding of the supply chain of Forest Products and Building Materials from manufacturer to end user.
  • Develop knowledge of various building material/forest products.
  • Participate in all areas including invoicing, customer interaction and use of the Purchase Order platform LumberTrack
  • Quote inquiries with suppliers.
  • Write and post news articles to our website to drive awareness and support from our member organizations to various LMC purchasing programs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a related Bachelor’s Degree program
  • Exhibits excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrates analytical skills and business skills.
